Tucked away on a secluded plot in prestigious Emerson Park, Hornchurch, this work-in-progress scheme proposes five substantial new-build homes, each offering 5–6 bedrooms and extensive off-street parking. The vision blends classic red-brick character with contemporary family living, reinforcing Emerson Park’s reputation for high-calibre residential architecture.

Design Vision

Context-driven massing – Proportions, gabled rooflines and rich brick detailing echo the grand villas that define Emerson Park, while precise contemporary accents keep the language forward-looking.

Signature entrances – Double-height arched glazing and columned porticos create a dramatic sense of arrival and flood central halls with natural light.

Landscape-first approach – Sweeping driveways, permeable block paving and layered planting soften the streetscape, provide privacy and enhance biodiversity.

Key Features in Development

Spacious 5–6 bedroom family layouts with optional guest suites and home-office zones.

Secure gated access and private garages, with parking bays pre-wired for electric-vehicle charging.

High-performance building envelope targeting U-values of 0.15 W/m²K or better for superior thermal comfort.

Low-carbon technologies are aligned with Havering and the sustainability goals of the London Plan.

Large-format glazing and 2.7 m ceilings to deliver light-filled interiors and uninterrupted garden views.

Sustainability & Technical Strategy

A fabric-first methodology minimises heat loss before layering renewables. SuDS-compliant hard landscaping, rain-gardens and drought-tolerant planting reduce surface-water run-off and bolster local ecology—future-proofing the development against climate risks.

Current Stage & Next Steps

The project is transitioning from Concept Design towards Developed Design. Material palettes, structural systems and MEP strategies are now being refined in collaboration with cost consultants and engineers to ensure buildability without compromising design intent or sustainability ambitions.
